Now Facebook has started rolling out the new feature of messenger called a “Secret conversation” that would provide the end to end encryption on this platform. However, unlike WhatsApp, the end-to-end encryption setting will not be default and users can choose to turn it on.
Facebook said in a blog spot last Friday “We’ve heard from you that there are times when you want additional safeguards — perhaps when discussing private information like an illness or a health issue with trusted friends and family, or sending financial information to an accountant, ”
Messenger has also taken steps to make sure that chats remain secure, even if a user’s device gets lost or stolen. In secret conversations, Messenger will allow users to set an expiration date for a message so that it won’t be visible in the conversation forever. Once the time runs out, the message will vanish from the devices of all users in the chat; Facebook also publishes details about the secret conversation on White Paper.
End-to-end Encryption means no one can see your messages except sender or receiver even Facebook team can not see that you are taking on facebook messenger.
End-to-end encryption has faced an excellent in popularity in recent years as mainstream tech companies have started integrating it into their products amid heightened cyber security. But this booming demand also is seen to face a problem from some law enforcement officials that terrorists can easily share their ideas on it, and no one can tap this chat. And their chat would be secure to end-to-end encryption.
To start the secret conversation just tape on friend name at the top of your current message thread, then you will see the option on secret t. After clicking on a secret conversation, a new thread open that will inform you at the top with end-to-end encryption. The time selection feature also open where you can also select your time for erasing the chat from secret conversations.
Facebook had also launched the end-to-end encryption for WhatsApp chat and even calls and groups chat was secure. And now Facebook works on secret communication end-to-end encryption messages.
